Purpose
- To provide support for new mold qualification Quality activities at Forum Plastics LLC.
- To implement the company’s Quality Policy and ensure that the requirements of ISO 13485-2016 and other applicable industry standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical inspection of parts for new mold qualification Quality activities including first article inspections (FAIs), capability studies, Gage R&Rs and PPAPs.
- Lead all process improvements and work flow optimizations specific to the metrology equipment and related software.
- Assist in training of new Quality personnel.
- Troubleshooting and production part inspection as required.
Duties
- Perform required inspections utilizing the vision inspection equipment and other traditional inspection devices as required.
- Prepare documentation for FAI packages, capability studies, Gage R&Rs and PPAPs using Word and Excel.
- Manage inspection projects by working closely with the Engineering team to provide timing/status updates on inspection activities.
- Develop and maintain a high level of communication with all departments within Forum Plastics LLC.
- Keep abreast of current quality system requirements.
- Ensure that the documentation control process is implemented.
- Develop a Quality Plan for each product.
- This position requires the ability to seldom lift no more than 25 pounds.
Education
- Certified Mechanical Inspector or Certified Quality Engineer a plus.
- AS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or related technical degree desired, BS is a plus.
- Knowledge of GD&T and ISO 13485-2016 a plus.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience with handheld precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, drop indicators.
- Experience with Visual Measurement Systems preferred.
- Experience in Manufacturing environment, blueprint reading and understanding preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with capability and motivation to learn new skills and jobs under guidance.
- Must have good math skills and be attentive to details of the job.
- Computer user, familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Team player, must be well spoken, and a good writer.
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team approach environment.
- Experience in Manufacturing environment, blueprint reading and understanding preferred.
- Must be dependable and willing to work extra hours and weekends as required.
Experience:
- 3+ years of hands on quality assurance, quality control, or mechanical inspection.
- Inspection related to precision injection molded parts a plus.
- Preference for experience using RAM optical or similar vision inspection equipment desired.
- Microsoft Office skills required (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Minitab or other statistical software experience desired.
- Knowledge of quality systems principles, organization and implementation in a manufacturing and process environment.
- Experience in medical device industry/plastic molding/disposables a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a small company environment.
